Product details
Learn which menu to open, what each editor changes, and how to save product details, images, variants and linked inventory.
Owner or Manager access is required for editing actions.
Open a product
In Products, select the product name. This guide uses the same Cotton crewneck tee throughout: three variants, 120 stock units, 108 available and 12 reserved.
There are separate three-dot menus beside the product title and each editable section. Use the section named below to open the right editor. Editing requires Owner or Manager access; view-only users do not see the management actions.
| Where to click | What opens or changes |
|---|---|
| Product actions → Edit product | Edit Product: basic information and catalog status. Save applies those fields. |
| Photos → Edit images | Edit product images: upload, reorder, choose a thumbnail or remove photos. |
| Options → Manage options | Manage Product Options: option groups, values and existing variant combinations. |
| Variant row → Edit variant | Edit Variant: one variant’s identifiers, option values, base price and inventory management. |
| Edit prices & stock | The full Edit product wizard opens at Pricing & stock. Its footer uses Save as draft or Publish. |
| Link inventory / Manage stock | Link existing warehouse SKUs, or leave the product page to manage actual stock quantities. |
| Product details → Edit organization | Organize Product: category, collection, type and tags. |
| Organize → Additional product details | In the full editor: product attributes, physical attributes and Metadata JSON. |
| Offer inventory | A separate Sale Request form with available inventory selected. It still needs review. |
| Archive / Restore draft / Delete product | A confirmation step for catalog status changes or an eligible permanent deletion. |
Edit product information
- Open the three-dot Product actions menu beside the product title, then choose Edit product.
- In Edit Product, update Title, Brand or manufacturer, Subtitle, Handle, Material or Description. Use Status only when you intend to change the catalog state.
- Select Save. Wait for the refreshed product to appear and the drawer to close, then check the information on the product page.
- Choose Cancel to discard unsaved field changes. If a validation error appears, correct the indicated field before saving again.
Manage product images
- In Photos, open the three-dot Media actions menu and choose Edit images. With management access, selecting an existing photo opens this same editor.
- In Edit product images, select Upload images or drop files into the upload area. Use JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 1.5 MB per file and 10 images per product.
- Select a photo to reveal Move earlier, Move later, Make thumbnail and Remove. The thumbnail is the product’s primary image.
- Select Save to apply the current order, thumbnail and removals. Review the result in Photos.
This sample has one image, already used as the thumbnail, so Move earlier, Move later and Make thumbnail are disabled. Reordering needs another image; Make thumbnail is available when a different image is selected.
Manage options and variants
Change option names and values
- In Options, open its three-dot menu and select Manage options.
- In Manage Product Options, edit an option name or its values. Use Add custom option or Add value when needed. The value controls can reorder or remove values; Remove option group removes a group.
- Expand Existing variant configurations and review the values assigned to every active variant.
- Select Save. Each active variant must have a valid, unique combination. Resolve missing values or duplicate combinations before retrying.
Adding an option value here does not create a new variant. This section appears when the product already has options. To generate new combinations, use the full editor’s Details step, as described in Create a product.
Edit one variant
- In Variants, open the three-dot menu at the end of the required row, then choose Edit variant.
- In Edit Variant, update Title, option selections, SKU, Barcode / UPC, Manufacturer model, Base USD price or Manage inventory.
- Select Save to apply the variant changes while retaining the product’s current catalog status. The fields are still validated. Use Cancel to discard unsaved changes.
Search title or SKU, All stock / Available / Unavailable, the Created / Title A–Z / Most available sort and the Archived checkbox change the displayed variant rows immediately. They do not change stock, and do not require Apply. Archived variants do not offer the active variant edit menu.
Edit prices and linked stock
- Select Edit prices & stock beside Variants. Variant actions → Manage variants and a row’s Manage prices & inventory open the same full editor.
- Edit Cotton crewneck tee opens at Pricing & stock. Review each variant’s Title, SKU, option values and Base price USD.
- Use the inventory linking controls for an existing stock SKU or inventory kit. Actual owned stock can be registered for a new, unlinked variant. Existing warehouse quantities are managed in Inventory.
- Choose the footer action deliberately: Save as draft saves a draft; Publish runs publication and seller eligibility checks. Back returns to the previous step. Cancel closes without submitting these product edits.
The complete three-step workflow and publication requirements are in Create a product.
Link inventory or adjust quantities
Link a variant to stock you already have
- In the right-hand Inventory panel, select Link inventory.
- In the Link inventory drawer, choose the correct Inventory SKU for each active variant. For a kit, choose the SKU for each existing component.
- Select Save, then review available and reserved quantities on the product page.
Linking changes the product-to-stock relationship. It does not add stock or edit reservations. To add kit components or change their required quantities, use the full Edit prices & stock editor.
Change a warehouse quantity
- Select Manage stock in Inventory. If nothing is linked, the action reads Add inventory. Both open the warehouse Inventory list.
- Open the inventory item and select Adjust beside its stock location. A variant row’s Go to inventory item is a direct route to that SKU; kit rows link to their component SKUs.
- Enter the new in-stock quantity and a reason, then select Save stock adjustment. The quantity cannot be below the reserved amount.
Follow Stock & status for the adjustment form, location management and manual reservations.
Organize the product
- In the right-hand Product details panel, open the three-dot Organize actions menu and select Edit organization.
- In Organize Product, choose Category & subcategory, Collection and Type, and edit Tags.
- Select Save and check the updated classification on the product page, or Cancel to discard unsaved edits.
Brand is changed through Product actions → Edit product. Shipping profile is in the full editor’s Organize step, rather than this focused drawer. Reusable collections and options are managed from the Products navigation.
Add attributes and metadata
- Select Edit prices & stock to open the full editor, switch to Organize, then expand Additional product details.
- Under Product attributes, choose a suggested attribute or Add attribute. Enter its name, type and value. Number fields can include a unit; select fields need allowed values; boolean fields use Yes or No. Remove attribute removes that entry.
- Expand Physical attributes for Requires shipping, dimensions, weight, measurement units, MID code, HS code and country of origin.
- In Metadata → Metadata JSON, use text key/value pairs, up to 40 entries. Keep secrets and customer data out of metadata.
- Use Save as draft or Publish with the status effects described above.
Catalog measurements describe the product. Warehouse attributes and stock units are managed separately in Inventory. These fields are reached through the full editor; there is no separate Attributes, Shipping or Metadata action menu on this product page.
Prepare inventory for a sale request
- Select Offer inventory in the Sale request panel, or from an available variant’s row menu.
- The separate Offer inventory form opens with relevant available SKUs selected. Review the items and quantities, Inventory title, condition disclosure, whole-lot reserve, buyer category, access and fulfillment.
- Review shipping and separately charged tax fields, genuine inventory photographs where required, and the ownership and listing-rights confirmation.
- Submit for review sends the Sale Request for Admin review. Further selling and eligibility checks apply in that workflow.
Archive, restore or delete
Archive without deleting transaction history
- Open Product actions → Archive product.
- Review Archive product? and select Archive to set the catalog status to Archived, or Cancel to keep it unchanged.
Existing listings, reservations, orders and history are retained. Archiving does not automatically cancel an active sale request or mean the stock was sold. On an Archived product, choose Restore draft, then confirm Restore as draft? with Restore draft. This restores Draft, not Published.
Delete only an unused catalog product
- Choose Delete product from Product actions, or from the product’s row menu in Products.
- Read Delete product?. Only use Delete product when the product is eligible for permanent deletion. Cancel leaves it unchanged.
